Learn how to calculate the necessary ventilation at you growing space.
Article for advanced growers
Ventilation breaks for breeding spaces can be calculated using the following formula:
Calculation of the supply of growth space in relation to the growth area.
It has been established that the following formula can be used to calculate the amount of ventilation that a growing room needs:
V = Q / (dT * 1.224)
OR
Q = V * dT * 1.224
Q = amount of lighting in kilowatt hours
V = the amount of air in cubic meters per second
dT = the difference between the temperature in the growing space and the temperature outside the growing space.
Let's say that it is 25 degrees outside in the growing space, there is a 600 bulb (0.6 kilowatt hour) and we want to have a temperature of up to 30 degrees inside the space, the calculation is:
Q = 0.6
dT = 5
We want to get V in MKS:
V= 0.6 / 5*1.224
V = 0.098
Or 353 cubic meters (multiply by 3600 to convert cubic meters per second into cubic meters per hour).
Reverse example
Let's say we have a blower of 450 MKS (0.125 cubic meters per second) the temperature outside is 26, we are not ready to exceed 31 inside, and the question is how much lighting can be used in the growing space:
Then:
V = 0.125
dT = 5
and
Q = 0.125 * 5 * 1.224
or 0.7 kilowatts, which is 700 watts of lighting.
In addition to these calculations, the space must be ventilated every 3 minutes to replace all the air in the space (which means at least 40 cubic meters per 2 cubic meters of space), and no lighting above 600 watts per square meter should be used.
Ventilation id very important aspect, both for the plants and the odor (smell)
