Ventilation - Guide

Plants breathe just like us. In order to thrive and bloom, plants also need fresh air. This article will teach you how to provide clean air for our beloved plants.

The importance of ventilation

A ventilation system will help us maintain the ideal conditions for growing plants by accelerating air circulation and maintaining the correct temperature in the growing space.

Our ventilation system ensures that our plants grow and prosper in ideal conditions.

It helps plants breathe, maintains the right temperature and humidity levels, and even strengthens and prevents branch breakage.

General Info

Exchanging of Air

Air is circulated in the breeding space by a ventilation system. Carbon dioxide is consumed by plants in the process of photosynthesis and oxygen is released into the atmosphere.

Carbon dioxide levels in the growing space will drop if there is insufficient ventilation, causing the plants to suffer.

A high-quality ventilation system introduces fresh air rich in carbon dioxide into the growing space and thus allows the plants to grow and thrive.

Temperature and humidity control

We can also maintain ideal climate conditions for the plants with the help of a ventilation system.

A large grow space is generally heated by the grow lamps that provide the light needed for the plants.

Due to the fact that warm air rises and cold air falls, a quality ventilation system removes hot air from the upper part of the growing space and introduces cold air through the lower part.

Moreover, the photosynthesis process in an airtight space and the humidity of the growing medium increase humidity levels.

Fresh air is brought into the growing space through ventilation, which helps maintain ideal levels of humidity and temperature.

Plant strengthening

Plants exposed to the wind become stronger, something most of us don't know.

Flowing air over plants strengthens them and prevents branches from breaking.

This flow occurs in nature only when the wind blows on the plants, but in a closed growing space, the ventilation system is the one that flows the air over and strengthens the plants.

Blowing air on the plants increase their strength.

Vent or Blower

When it comes to ventilation for growing spaces for plants, the main question is whether to use a vent or a blower. There is only one major difference between the two: the blower has more power.

A blower has higher power and thrust capacity than a vent.
Additionally, Vent's power is significantly reduced when there is resistance, such as a long chain pipe.
The vent is therefore not suitable for ventilating large spaces. But perfect for the tent.

Ventas have the advantage of being silent (also called muted Vents).
If your growing tent is located in one of the rooms of the house, especially in the bedroom, then this is an ideal solution.
There are different sizes for vents, such as Vent 8 inches, Vent 4 inches, Vent 4 inches, and Vent 6 inches.

Vent is the perfect ventilation solution for plants growing in tents.

Centrifugal Blower - Huge area

The ideal solution for ventilating breeding spaces is a blower, as you probably already know.

To prevent light leakage through the air inlet and outlet openings, it is essential to install the blower properly and seal the openings well.
Seal the growth cavity properly with an adjustable stainless steel bank (hug).

When purchasing a blower, make sure it has the right power.
Power requirements depend on two main factors: the size of the space and the existing resistance to the blower, such as a chain pipe or a charcoal filter.

In order to calculate the power required for your growing space, follow these steps:
Multiply the volume of the room (length x width x height) by two when the chain length is short (up to 2 meters)
Multiply the volume of the room by 3 when the chain length is longer than 2 meters.

When the blower power (MKW) is greater than the formula result, the space is sufficiently ventilated.

When purchasing a blower, make sure it has the right power.

Full ventilation system

In addition to vents or blowers, there are a number of other products that can improve your ventilation system, ventilate your growing space better, and help your plants grow at their best.

Humidity and Temperature indicators
The ventilation system's most basic component.
Plants require the correct temperature and ideal humidity level to grow properly, which is one of the main reasons for installing a ventilation system.
It's impossible to know without measuring, isn't it?
You can accurately measure the climate conditions in the growing area at any given moment with a digital thermometer and a digital hygrometer.

Growing Fan
There is no doubt that a simple floor fan, the one that every household has in Asia, can help you ventilate the growing space evenly distributed.
By blowing wind over the plants, a fan circulates oxygen to them, lowers and equalizes the temperature throughout the growing space (usually warmer near the lamp), and even strengthens them.

Air - Conditioner
In the growing room, air conditioners or coolers are used to keep the room cool. Heat is produced by grow lamps, so you will need to keep the room at the right temperature by using a small, portable air conditioner.
This is especially true in most Asian countries, due to the hot climate all year long.
As long as it is not overactive and does not drastically reduce the humidity in a room, it is beneficial.

Growing Channels
In ventilation, a chain, or chain pipe, is used as a channel.
As it is made of aluminum, it is usually installed near the lamp, near the growing space's upper part and with the help of hanging hooks and chains) so that it can cool the area.
Make sure that the ventilation openings where the thread is installed do not leak air or light.
To prevent light from leaking into the grow tent, use an adapter in case the perimeters of the chain do not fit the exit opening.

Charcoal Filter
The charcoal filter prevents odors (smell) from leaking outside the breeding space by filtering them.
When growing fragrant plants indoors, in a dedicated growing tent installed inside one of the house's rooms, a filter is especially helpful.
We probably don't want the smells of the plants to enter the room where the tent is placed.
You can keep your house clean and prevent your neighbors from smelling and knowing what you are growing with a charcoal filter.

Sufficient ventilation equipment = Best plants!

Ventilation Summary

Many growers underestimate the importance of setup a complete and professional ventilation system in their indoor growing space, but experienced growers know the value of establishing a complete system that meets their requirements.

It is essential for your plants to be kept at the right temperature and humidity, as well as to be given adequate air circulation.
If you have a proper ventilation system installed, it's almost certain that your plants will grow and thrive under this optimal conditions.

The growth space must be ventilated in order for it to be successful.

Don't underestimate the importance of a proper ventilation system
